PIX Podcast

Starting this coming Monday, PIX will be hosting a Podcast, I'll be hosting and will have a football discussion with one of our participants.  The first week we'll be talking sports with last years' champion, Brenna.
Okay...that's plugged.  The Denver Broncos will now be preparing to play the first six games without one of their best defensive players in Von Miller, as the NFL today announced that he will be suspended 6-games for violation of the league substance abuse policy.  This makes me wonder, though...how are all these players coming back from major knee issues and playing in 6 or 7 months?  I'm not blaming anyone or making accusations, but it's just curious.  In baseball, Alex Rodriguez had well-documented hip issues and allegedly took performance enhancing drugs to assist in his return.  Baseball is not as much as contact sport as is football, so how is this done?  Is it that as fans we just think that football players are tougher and decide to overlook their quick comebacks and think that's part of the game?  Just something to think about.
Oh, and did you see the hit the Dolphins' player took on Saturday?  The knee is not supposed to go that direction, ouch!!  Very painful to watch, can only imagine what he felt.

Pre-season Week 2

That was fun!  Nothing like the smell of football to make us think about the fall, crisp days, leaves falling from the trees, wearing sweaters, sitting in our comfy chair on a Sunday afternoon with a warm beverage and goodies...FOOTBALL!!
Sitting in the warmth of our home while watching Troy and Joe tell us all about the Bears and how they're successful when it's snowing, as we enjoy watching a blizzard fall on our screen.
Once the regular season starts, I'll have more informative, possibly even interesting, posts.

Preseason in Full Swing

With the Dallas 27-24 win over the Miami Dolphins and their new uniforms, the 2013 NFL preseason gets underway.  This was ironic in a way in that Shark Week started on the same night the Dolphins lost.
A couple of big stories that the major news outlets will be following this week will be whether or not Tim Tebow will get any playing time as the Patriots visit Philadelphia.  Brady was reported as looking very sharp today in practice, making his job look easy.
Also, Riley Cooper of the Eagles used an inappropriate racial phrase a few months ago and has received reprimand from his team, and who knows what kind of backlash he has received personally from teammates.
The Giants-Steelers game would be very appealing as a regular season game...but this is just pre-season.  It's likely that, if we see any of the starters at all, it will only be for a series or two, or maybe a single quarter.
